So, I haven't told you that Peppermint Rainbows has select items from our online catalog in a local shop, Imagine Salon & Boutique. We met Melissa and Macon a few months ago when we dropped off our Christmas inventory. We had such a great response, that they asked for Valentine's Day items to help promote their annual Champagne Spa Package weekend. This relationship is going so well!! I am so excited that they keep asking for inventory. This keeps me on my toes; creating cute and fun items with the embroidery machine is so fun!

Today, I took Imagine some of the Spirograph collection, as well as these adorable Party Hat Applique' T-shirts for boys and girls. These shirts can be personalized in so many ways!! Spirograph Collection

I have worn myself out over this new collection! I hope you all enjoy the results. The Spirograph Collection has been brewing in the sewing room for a few weeks, and is now ready to release. Orange, yellow, green and turquoise Spirograph designs and polka dots evoke the feeling that Spring is sure to come. In the meantime, we're pairing it with turquoise 21 wale corduroy.

Olivia has already tested her long sleeved "Olivia Tunic" and Ruffle Pants, and she's given them 2 thumbs up! This is big, if you know much about the Picky Princess. She has many many hurdles that I have to "jump" in the sewing room to meet her OCD enhanced standards. What this all means is that these outfits are COMFORTABLE!!! This corduroy is VERY soft and there is PLENTY of room to run, jump, play and sing in the tunic and pants.

I have also made the Swing Top and Ruffle Pants for Blair, and added a new applique' to the top to bring it all together. This Swing Top in the turquoise corduroy would also be adorable for toddlers wearing Spirograph Pantaloons! That's the fun of Peppermint Rainbows. You, the Customer, gets to pick and choose the items and embellishments which will create YOUR custom outfit!

Finally, I tested the Jumper Dress in the Spirograph fabric and added both turquoise and orange with yellow dot ribbons to accent. PERFECT!! This makes me wish the groundhog hadn't seen his shadow today!! This little Jumper Dress already has me dreaming of the warm, sunny days of Spring. For now, pair it with a white turtleneck and tights, and soon you'll be trading those in for sandals.

Santa Face Applique' ~ Great for girls and boys!

This adorable Santa Face applique' uses white felt for Santa's beard, giving it a 3 dimensional look which is soft and touchable. Again, I used 21 wale corduroy as the setting for these whimsical holiday creations. I did the Swing Top and Pantaloons set for my niece, Blair, and will post pictures (as soon as her Mommy sends them to me) so you can see the sizing and fitting of the items. The Jumper Dress is available immediately in a 3T! You can add a name to this outfit for an additional $6.

Gingerbread Girls on Pink Corduroy

Holiday Bizzar at Westbrook

Peppermint Rainbows was asked to participate in a member's only Holiday Bizzar at Westbrook Country Club inside Savannah Quarters. We were so very excited that we were asked to join so we pulled out all the stops!! Not only did we offer our the Santa Face and Gingerbread Boy and Girl applique's on our custom outfits for boys and girls, but we also debuted the newest holiday creation for our Big Little Girls. It's a crimson red 21 wale corduroy swing top and ruffle pants, accented with zebra stripes and embellished with our Packages applique' in funky holiday colors and fabrics.

Below are pictures of our PR director and THE Peppermint Rainbows Glamour Girl, Olivia! our PR director came down from Atlanta especially for this event (and to pick up the custom order she placed for the Santa Face applique' on blue cord.) And, Olivia wore the Olivia Tunic and Ruffle pants ~ which landed us a custom order for a long sleeved version.

We offered our aprons, both casual and Christmas. We had such a fun time talking to all of our new fans!!

Christmas Ornament Aprons

We're ready for holiday baking here at Peppermint Rainbows!! These aprons are the first to be made this year for my BFF from Waycross. Her nieces are going to be a great help in the kitchen (we hope!) and are going to look simply "ma-velus." These child size aprons can be accompanied by a mommy size too. We personalized these two aprons by embroidering each little lady's name on white minky dot, bordered with the same lime green that's in the ornaments. These aprons are so whimsical and fun that any chef would be sure to create some delicious treats this Christmas.

Olivia Tunic and Ruffle Pants

Well, O is not a baby anymore.... My girlfriends tell me she's not been a baby in quite a while, but I've refused to listen. Seems Olivia's voice is MUCH louder than any of my girlfriends'. So much so that I am unable to ignore her cries: "Mama, that's baby-ish. I'm ssoooo not wearing that!" Our last trip to the fabric store proved to be very grown up when she picked out the Pink Mod Floral fabrics that I used to make the new Fall set for Peppermint Rainbows. It only seems fair that since she picked out the fabric, and helped design the new top and pants, that it be named after her.

Introducing: The Olivia Tunic top and Ruffle Pants!! Ta-da! This new set got the "Not Baby-ish" stamp of approval from my little Big Girl.

The Olivia Tunic top has two buttons at the back of the neck and the hem falls to the hips. The Ruffle Pants are elastic waist and have a loosely gathered ruffle at the hem. The test outfit above is a size 6.

All I had to do was say "model" and Olivia was all over wearing the newest applique design for me. Especially when it meant that she got to pose any way she wanted while wearing her newest Peppermint Rainbows creation. I think her favorite part was wearing the side ponytail. Anyway, she had fun showing off this Halloween design of an appliqued pumpkin and ghost, accented with candy corn, stars and moon, and one lone bat in the night sky. My earlier post shows this on a blue corduroy background that will become a Jumper or a Swing Top for my neice, Blair. But, my little Big Girl wanted a T-shirt for herself. This Pumpkin and Ghost Applique on a T-shirt is $18. T-shirt sizes range from 2/3 Toddler to 7/8 Youth, and can be either short or long sleeved. Ghost and Pumpkin Applique

This is a test of the Ghost and Pumpkin Applique, and I think it turned out really well. When I was tweaking out the photo, I noticed that I didn't snip the threads on the Ghost's face and between the letters of the word "Boo!" Those will DEFINITELY be snipped on your finished applique!!

I tested this on blue 16 wale corduroy, thinking what an adorable dress this would make for Olivia. I'm planning to use orange shoulder bows as a finishing touch. The applique would also be GREAT on a blue Jon Jon, making the perfect Brother/Sister set for this Fall.

For a more casual option, I do have white long sleeve and short sleeve T-shirts ranging in sizes from 2T to youth 7/8. This applique would be wonderful on the T-shirts, especially for young boys, and you can add your child's name for personalization if you like.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

The Itsy Bitsy Spider climed ALL OVER this dress and Jon Jon!!

Look who's back......

Yep, after a much too long sebatical from my sewing room, I'm back!!! The home office of Peppermint Rainbows is gearing up for fall and winter designs. I sadly report that the only thing I've been working on is new cushions for the patio furniture. Oh, and the occasional alteration here and there. Being back at the machine has got my mind working on some fun things for the kiddies. Pumpkin Pull Toy Embroidery

Here's your first glimpse of what Peppermint Rainbows will offer this fall. The Pumpkin Pull Toy embroidery design is in rich shades of orange, with a tinge of dark green and brown, and can be personalized with a name or monogram if you wish.

I usually do a model design and outfit with a girl's item, but I decided to mix it up this time. These Jon Jons are made of 100% cotton broadcloth in brown and white gingham. They are fully lined and have buttons at the shoulders and a snap bottom. If your weather is cooler during the fall, you can opt to have a Long Jon instead.

The same fabric and embroidery design can be used to make a Jumper Dress or Swing Top and any of our girl's bottoms. Just think how sweet a Brother/Sister combination would be in the Pumpkin Patch this fall!

The "create your own outfit" environment at Peppermint Rainbows allows for your personal style and preferences to be represented on your little ones. Simply choose the garment item(s) you like best from our menu, add any embroidery or personalization, and send us an email! It's that simple. You will receive an email confirmation of your order, along with an invoice that can be paid via personal check, debit card or Paypal account. Production on your custom Peppermint Rainbows original will begin once payment has been processed. Please allow 2 weeks from that time for production and shipment. These reversible bibs are adorable!! I did this one for my niece, Blair, who will be celebrating her First Birthday on October 10th. She needed something VERY SPECIAL to catch all those rogue cake crumbs that will fall from her fingertips as she devours her Birthday Cake. So, Peppermint Rainbows came to the rescue!!

Blair's bib is made with 100% cotton woven fabric in Duck Egg Paisley and a polly/cotton blend in White Minky Dot. The crown applique is also in White Minky Dot, and a single letter can be added for personalization. There is a snap closure at the back of the neck.

I just HAD to make another bib, so why not for Blair? Sshhh!!! Don't tell her Mommy ~ it's a surprise!! This one is made of 100% cotton woven fabric in pink and light brown "petals" with off-white accents, and is backed in solid pink. I chose an off-white thread for the embroidery of her name, or choose a monogram in either off-white or brown.

OK, so I've been testing several applique designs I found and I have found 2 that you are going to love for the summer. I did the Circus Elephant standing on a ball for a friend at my hair salon. Her daughter was about 18-20 months at the time and she chose the 2T Swing Top and 18mo Pantaloons in the Lime Green/Periwinkle Polka Dot set. It turned out lovely!!! . Bella is tall and thin so the Pantaloons are blousey enough to last her through the fall.

I made the Red/Yellow Gingham Jon Jon in a size 3T for a former co-worker and friend whose son is a regular size 2T, but she wanted it to last well through the summer. Gunner was 35" tall at the time. This applique is my favorite so far, because it can be used on Brother/Sister outfits for matching summer portriats.

New Brother Embroidery Machine!!!

You are not going to believe this one!! I finally had my first lesson on the new embroidery machine that we got, IN MARCH!!!!!

About 2 weeks before we went to Disney World (March 29th,) I was contacted about purchasing a used Brother 6 thread machine. Of course, I jumped at the chance. Peppermint Rainbows needed this step, and I'd been online looking and learning for many months now, trying to convince myself that the expense would be worth while. The machine was about 1yr old and came with ALL the attachments you could ask for ~ even one for ball caps! Plus, I would have access to on-site lessons if needed.

Well, we already had a busy spring. Easter was early, just behind the annual Shellman Bluff St. Patrick's Day Parade, then it was our 5 day trip to Orlando. Not long after returning from WDW I had to fly through the last 10 days of tax season working on several returns for clients and family. Then, it was off to Hilton Head with Steven for an Oncology Conference, then on to Phillidelphia for a wedding. No time to slow down now and learn how to work this machine ~which, by the way, looks like something from the Alien movie, just sitting in my guest room. Poor Becky! (My Mother-In-Law) She had to sleep in the same room with this thing while we were in PA. Yikes!! Anyway, after a nice weekend (including a day at SSI with Aunt Gig') I committed to meet with my "teacher" today and finally see what this thing is all about.

I am so pumped!!!!!! I will be stiching Whitney if she doesn't stand still!!!!! For my first trials, I made an "O" applique', a poppy embroidery design, and an "S" floral monogram block. Yeah, Jennifer!! I tested every button, twice! I ran the machine until the bobbin ran out! Which reminds me: I have an entire list of supplies that need to be purchased SOON before I can continue with my projects.

I remember feeling this much excitement when I bought my first embroidery machine (a Singer Quantum Futura) almost 2 years ago. Now, I'll still use the Singer for small jobs and for standard sewing, as well as my other Brother CS-6000. Neither of these are major machines, but I've been on them so long that I fly through things without a second thought. I know what stitches give the best results on hems, buttonholes and embelishments. I'll just slide them down on the assembly line, add the new Brother and keep on moving.

Today, Olivia wore the Tanner Top (introduced Easter 2008) with the new Ruffle Capris. Peppermint Rainbows scores again!! Apparently another Mother from Pre-School asked if Olivia's Mommy made her outfit, and in her softest Southern voice she responded, "Yes Ma'am." This mother wants one of her very own! And, I don't blame her!! This is not our first Tanner Top/Ruffle Capri set this year.

The Tanner Top has wide straps attached with buttons in the front to a square yoke that can be personalized* which is "skirted" with a loose fitting top that falls past the waist. This length is a must in our family, as Olivia is VERY tall and many things don't cover her mid-section. This very delima was my inspriration for Pepperment Rainbows ~ what mother or father wants their young child posing as a teenager as much as 10 years too early!! The capri pants are elastic waist made with the same fabric as the Tanner Top yoke and are ruffled with the complimentary "skirting" from the top.
